We believe that the food produced in the South West is some of the best in the country and whenever possible we use
regional and seasonal produce.
Not only do we believe that the food from the South West tastes great, but we are also keen to do our bit to reduce food
miles - the distance food travels from field to plate - wherever possible.
Since taking over the Queen’s Arms, we have always bought meat that is produced and killed in Somerset. We buy some
of our beef from the farm adjacent to the QA. …we really couldn’t get much closer. The Devon Red organic beef has
great flavour and is regularly featured on our menu.
Our lamb is purchased from the 'Woolly Shepherd', a producer whose
lambs frollick only three fields away.
The Dorset Down cross sheep are only grazed on grass and are slaughtered locally. Fantastic flavour and minimal food miles!
Our vegetables and salad produce are from Huish & Sons from Chard. And we are often supplied with fruit and vegetables
from customers' gardens here in Pitminster. Our fabulous chutneys are supplied by Nora Virgin. Nora lives in Pitminster
and grows all her own produce in her small garden.
We support local producers whenever possible, which enables us to keep those food miles down and serve our customers
with the freshest food possible.
